An Effort to Motivate Children in the Village to Keep Up Their Learning Spirit

Village children need support to keep them motivated to study at school despite their limitations. Not only about access to school, these children need school equipment.

School-age children, especially primary school children, in rural areas face learning challenges amidst limited school facilities and teachers’ ability to deliver contextualized education. Maintaining the spirit of rural children to continue going to school and learning requires mutual care so that they grow and develop not only academically, but also healthy body and soul.

In many parts of the rural areas, it is common to find elementary school children attending school without much enthusiasm, as their parents, who generally work as farmers or fishermen, have to leave early in the morning, sometimes when the children are not yet awake. Poverty also makes it difficult for parents to prepare their children’s learning needs at school.

When they arrive at school, the children are faced with an unpleasant learning routine. Teachers only teach from textbooks while children listen or do the work they are told to do. This condition is prevalent in rural areas.

Damara Bali Foundation, Gusti Putu Arnawa who goes to Datah Karangasem village every week to encourage children to stay motivated to learn in the midst of limitations.

The establishment of the Damara Bali Foundation was carried out in order to channel support in the form of school supplies and tuition support for poor children in rural areas so that children can achieve their goals.

“We are very pleased and honored to receive donations from companies, communities, and people who also care about the sustainability of children’s education in rural areas. We use the donations collected for school equipment needed by the children.

One of the strongest supports so far has been from Villa Bugis and the guests staying at Villa Bugis.

“With a more fun motivational program, the children are excited to learn. We believe that even children in rural areas can be smart and advanced if they get an education that is fun and supports their growth and development,” said Gusti Putu Arnawa and also after being given motivation, the enthusiasm and motivation to learn from village children is no less than city children,

The difference in learning facilities and culture between rural and urban children is quite different, but it does not make a difference in children’s learning motivation.

Motivation of children in the village not as much as children who grow up in the city.

But according to Gusti Putu Arnawa as a motivator and communication teacher said, “We should not make the wrong assumption, indeed, we think that children in the regions are still full of limitations because what we have seen in the media is sad, sad, sad …”

Motivation cannot be assessed in terms of cities or villages. Rather, motivation can be seen based on an environment that creates opportunities and facilitates every child to be able to fulfill their curiosity.
