Empowering Underprivileged Communities through a Cattle Breeding Assistance Program

One of the flagship programs of Damara Bali Foundation in empowering underprivileged communities is by providing cattle breeding assistance through a revolving system.

The revolving cattle assistance program is an initiative aimed at improving the economic well-being of the poor through the development of cattle farming businesses, increasing cattle populations, and providing a sustainable source of income. This program involves distributing cows to underprivileged communities, which are then bred by the recipients. The offspring belong to the farmer, while the mother cows are passed on to new farmers or sold, with the proceeds used to purchase new cows for other families in need, thus creating a continuous revolving cycle.

Damara Bali Foundation hopes that this cattle farming program will become a significant source of income for poor families, helping to improve food security and family economies. In addition to economic benefits such as increased income, poverty reduction, and greater access to working capital, the program also provides social benefits including enhanced community participation in economic activities, strengthening of community groups, and development of local potential. Environmentally, there is also the potential to utilize livestock waste as organic fertilizer and biogas energy.

Recipients of the cattle breeding assistance generally express deep gratitude and enthusiasm for the support provided by Damara Bali Foundation. They hope this assistance will improve their livelihoods through an increase in cattle population and the potential income from selling cows or their derivative products.

Here are some key points voiced by the cattle assistance recipients:

Gratitude:
Recipients generally express appreciation and thankfulness for the support they have received. They feel helped in starting or developing their cattle farming business.

Economic Improvement Hopes:
The cattle assistance is expected to be a path to increase family income. Recipients plan to raise the cattle until they are mature and then sell them for profit.

Maintenance Challenges:
Recipients are also aware of the challenges in cattle farming, such as providing adequate feed during the dry season, managing cattle health, and ensuring proper housing. They are ready to work hard and learn to overcome these challenges.

Hopes for Continued Support:
Recipients hope for ongoing support from relevant parties, including training, education, or technical assistance in cattle care.

Enthusiasm for Learning:
Some of the recipients are new to cattle farming and are eager to learn more about proper cattle raising methods. In summary, the voices of the cattle assistance recipients reflect hope and optimism for a better future through the cattle farming initiative.
