School uniforms are compulsory for school children in Indonesia. They are set for all students at all grades based on national rules typically as below: 

• Primary schools or Sekolah Dasar (SD) students wear a white short-sleeve shirt with red shorts for male students, and below-knee skirts for females.

• Lower secondary schools or Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) require navy blue shorts or trousers with a short-sleeve white shirt for male students. Females wear a below-knee-length or long navy blue skirt and short-sleeve white shirt.

• Upper secondary schools or Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) require blue-grey trousers with a short-sleeve white shirt. Females wear a below-knee-length or long blue-grey skirt, and wear short-sleeve or long-sleeve white shirts.

It’s the time of the new academic year and  many poorer families are buying their children’s school uniform which is too expensive for them. Damara Bali Foundation has donated school uniforms to 98 children from poor families in Kedis and Datah Village who before were at risk of dropping out of school. The donation comes from Villa Bugis and individual direct children sponsors of Damara Bali Foundation which is aimed to reduce their financial stress when school re-opens. Apart from donating school uniforms, Damara also distributed stationary, new school shoes, socks, belts, and traditional costumes for these Elementary to High school students. 

The donation offers to reduce the financial burden of parents and to motivate their children to focus on studies with renewed confidence. The foundation asked parents to convince and encourage their children to do well in studying as well as to motivate children to reach for the stars. 

Children and parents are so grateful from the bottom of their hearts for the donors’ generosity and support – it means the world to everyone!
